A young Africian American gets pregnant and I thought the book was going to be about the pregnancy and baby. WRONG...it ended before she was 4 months pregnant. I also didn't like the way the unborn child had some chapters written..very strange. But I did finish it!

Title: The Baby Trail
Author: Sinead Moriarty
Rating: B
Thoughts: good book about infertility that made me laugh. This one is pulling me out. I am excited to
read now and have even joined some challenges. I want
to thank whoever recommended this to me.

Title: Veil of Roses
Author: Laura Fitzgerald
Pages: 309
Started: 1/3/08
Finished: 1/6/08
Rating: 10/10
Thoughts: Everyone needs to read this book. It is
about a girl from Iran(Tami)who comes to America to
visit her sister. There is a catch though. Girls
have no choices in Iran. She is in American for three
months only and if she can not find a husband and get
married, she has to go back and may never return
again. She is introduced to things by her sister and
her friends that she meets in an English class. I
laughed so hard at the Victoria Secret part and felt
her pain at the thought of going back and not being
able to make her own choices. The ending is worth it
and I cried my eyes out. Like alot of good books, I
missed Tami when I finished. I feel like I was one of
those friends with her and going through the
experience.

2008

I've decided that 2008 is going to be an awesome read for me this year. Well I didn't love it but I did finish it which is HUGE for me right now. I liked parts of it..enjoy learning about Chinese culture. But I also thought parts were way too creepy for me. That being said I did come to care about the characters which makes or breaks a book for me. In the end, I wasn't thrilled but I am willing to try another Tan book. I have ordered The Joy Luck Club from PBS.

Finally Finished a BooK

TITLE: life on the refrigerator door
AUTHOR: alice kuipers
DATE STARTED: 8/23/07
DATE FINISHED: 8/24/07
RATING: 4/5
REVIEW:
This was a review copy for first look. Very different way of writing. A mother and a daughter "talk" via notes on the refrigerator door. At first I admit I wasn't sure I like it that way but as I read on, it became obvious that interactions were taking place off the door also. The mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and the notes became a way for the teen-ager to say some things I think it might have been hard to say in person. Eventually they became close and were spending alot of time together. However it was a sad ending in that the mother does die from the cancer. The teen-ager wrote a final note to mom and left it on the refrigerator door.

A Favorite Book Quote

I've traveled the world twice over, Met the famous; saints and sinners, Poets and artists, kings and queens, Old stars and hopeful beginners, I've been where no-one's been before, Learned secrets from writers and cooks All with one library ticket To the wonderful world of books. ~ Anonymous ~
